We meet up on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 11.15 to 12.15 at St Francis Church in the Den. We read one book a month. The choice of novel is left to the Central Library Literacy group as we have different tastes and interests and so this means we read more of a variety of novels. Each month’s novel can be collected from the library or from the Group Leader at the meeting. Some of the novels are by new authors and from time to time we have had these authors visit the group to find out what we thought of their book.

The discussions are lively and interesting, especially when our opinions of the novel differ. Each novel is given a mark out of ten by each member of the group. Members are invited to write a short review which is then shared with other groups.  However, this is not compulsory and is left to individuals. Just a mark out of ten is sufficient if you do not feel able to contribute to the discussion or to write a review.

We are a friendly group and enjoy listening to other people’s opinion, even if we don’t agree with it. At the moment there are 12 people in the group, but not everyone attends each month as we all lead busy lives.  So, if you are someone who enjoys reading, why not come and join us as we are always welcoming to new members.

Simply come to our meeting and we will invite you to join us
